Yemayá is the mother of all Orishas and the ruler of the sea. She arrives laughing loudly and spins like a whirlpool in her dance.
According to EcuRed, Yemayá arrives laughing loudly when she comes down, and starts to spin "like a whirlpool". The other dancers form a circle around her and move like waves that grow ever faster.
According to EcuRed, Yemayá wears a crepe mantle over a navy blue dress, with blue and white ornaments, little bells on the dress and a wide cotton belt. Her colour is blue; her agbegbe, a feather fan decorated with mother-of-pearl, is one of her objects of power. EcuRed lists 26 paths of Yemayá, but does not describe how her dance differs per path.
Toques: in recordings the toque for Yemayá is called Yakotá; the furius.ca toque database also lists Alaró, Omolode and Tani iboya. Asesú and Okute are paths of Yemayá, not toques. See the Yemayá toque.
